Ayurvedic abhyanga massage
This massage, originating from
Ayurveda is first and foremost a way of life. It explains that everything is
composed of five elements: Ether, Fire, Air, Water and Earth. We, as humans,
are made of these components that are balanced in a certain way, according to
each person. These components are divided in three “doshas” that constitute our
profound nature. These doshas are:
Vata: Ether and Air predominant
Pitta: Fire and Water predominant
Kapha: Earth and Fire predominant
The abhyanga massage allows the body to relax the muscles, and release them from tensions and toxins stuck in the body, thanks to the properties contained in the essential oils, combined with appropriate gestures. This massage facilitates blood circulation, decreases stress, and balances the energies of the body.

Massage in Schools Program
Created by two teachers, Mia Elmsäter and Sylvie Hétu, this program has been taught since 1995 throughout England, and other European countries, as well as Canada.
From the statement that a child learns through his/her body, they initiated a massage routine as a social tool to bring nurturing touch, balance, and a funny way in the learning and growing process at school.
This program is designed for children from 4 up to 12 years old ( Kindergarden-5th grade). The routine contains 15 movements that children learn to do on each other's back. No adult touches the children.
Supported by 15 pictures for an easy way to remember the routine, this program is greatly appreciated by any child.
Example : the baker, "knead the dough" movement on the trapezoidal muscles.
The benefits are huge, here are a few:
- enhance body awareness
- respect and tolerance
- build self-confidence
- harmonious relationships
- quieter class
- enhance listenings skills
- facilitate learning and memory
As an instructor, I come to school to teach the routine to the teachers, as well as the children. When they know the routine, they can practice it each day for 10 minutes to start the day, guided by their teacher. This routine can then be spread into homes where the children can massage their parents, or adding nursery rhymes, and any imaginative creation.

MISP Fee: the fee depends on various factors and it is specific to each children facility and its budget.
